THE END SEPT. 27th

Well 5 days left at the Resort after spending 5 month working here. It was a fabulous adventure and looking forward to come back next year but certainly not as the staff cook. Need to meet with John and Adele this fall and see what's the plan for next year and I'll then decide if I come back or not.
Leaving for Vegas with Marc and Pascal on the 30th for 6 days. We have tickets for LOVE Cirque du Soleil and ACDC. Mathieu got a house for rent on Chesterman Beach, long term rental he's apparently not coming back to the Resort next year?
Meesha will have a good time there running on the Beach.
Well till next time, love you all.

New Adventures

Well lots of stuff has happen since my last post. I was last home on Aug 3-4-5-6 and I don't think I'll be able to return before the end of the season around Aug 27th. The staff cook at the resort was fired and because we were slow in the office i offered to cook for the remaining of the season. Wow big job for only one person but I am managing. Long hours but I do get breaks during the day. The first few days was a bit panicking seeing all those people coming in a rush for dinner. Marc has spent 4 days with me and he was a great help. We wish he could stay up with me for the rest of the season but he had to go to work. By the way about work he's back diving, it was a rough return but he made it and he's happy that he was able to go back. Only the future will tell what will come out of this.
I am still doing a bit of office work here and there specially for payroll.
Friends from dragon boat Liz and Steve will come to spend a few days helping me in the kitchen. Wow this resort is lucky, free labour. Hope the treat them well.
Marc was suppose to go work in Tofino this weekend but it's red tide so he will probably come back to stay with me, I hope anyway. There was a cougar sighting yesterday around the resort and we were told no to go for walk by ourselves. I haven't done lots of updates as i write more on facebook. I am planning a trip to Vegas with Rollande on Oct 1st for a few days. It will be weird getting out of here.
See ya all soon

Long weekend

Only been one once this month for 3 days, this weekend I have a visitor. Nicole came to visit me for 4 days. We will go on the zipline this afternoon hopefully and she's having a pedicure right now. She's amazed by this place but who wouldn't.
We will be going home together on Monday and will be in town for a few days. Marc is getting back on Tuesday can't wait to see him. Pascal started his motorcycle course this morning for 4 days, lucky bugger.

JULY 25TH

Another week in paradise, nice weather 23-24 everyday. I've been up for a hike with mon amie Sophie to Penny Falls. We left at 9:30am and were back at 12:30. Had lunch, check my email and slept for the rest of the day. But off course by midnight I was still not sleeping. Friday I spent most of the day in the laundry room as Ruth is gone to town for her daughters wedding. It was kind of cool just by myself in there. I had time to relax and think a lot.... that I miss Marc and I can't wait for him to be back.
Had a great massage last night from Sophie and now I am trying to find time for a pedicure and a facial. Check my facebook for pictures.

July 20th

Well well lots of stuff has happened since my last post. Everything at the resort here is cool, still like my job but I must admit I find it a bit hard not to be in control like when I had my own business. I see so much stuff that needs improvement but can't really do anything about it.
I went home week end of July 11 and spent lots of time with my friends at the Dragon Boat Festival, was lots of fun. Pascal drove me back to Tofino with Bobine and back to work for another 2 weeks or so. John and Adele left for the Yukon for a week. They are planning another resort up there. Sue the sales director came from Nanaimo to spent the weekend with me in the office is was super fun. Lots of stories, laugh and tears. 2 more staff are gone, 4 so far. It was quite a story for one. This young guy started to act funny and I suspected he was hallucinating and by dinner time last night I said we need to do something and get him out of here. So phone calls to his parents, hospital and coast guard as he didn't want to leave the resort and was getting more and more agitated 2 RCMP showed up. It took 2 hours to finally be able to get him on the boat. He became so agitated that he got the cop by the throat and they had to taser him down and handcuffed him. Poor guy I felt so bad for him and all the other staff were shoked and couldn't understand what was happening. I was so frustrated with one of the staff as she was playing god and wouldn't take any of my advice ( afterall I did spent almost 4 years working in psychiatry ) I had almost convinced him to come to Tofino on the boat with me when she got involved and totally ignore me. Anyway his parents came to pick him up in Tofino and he's back to Nanaimo I think.
I got Marc's return ticket will be home on Aug 4th can't wait I miis him so much and find it hard not to be with him during all his crazy adventure.
Will take a day off on Wednesday, sleep late and go for a hike with Sophie.
Will stay here until Marc gets back home. Pascal is so excited he got his motorcycle license, looking for a motocycle now. Mathieu his ob his 4 days off with Meesha. Poor Meesha, she has a lump on her neck now. She seems OK not suffering or in pain but it's always one thing after the other. And my little Bobine I wish she would be here with me but she's home with Pascal and she gets to sleep in her bed.

AMEN

2 months done at the resort

Well 2 months done at the Resort already, 3 more to go. Unbelievable how time goes fast. Lots has been going on since my last post. My last stretch here was 21 days and I went home last week for 5 days. It's really weird being home but I was spoiled like usual. Last Friday we went for lunch with Marc's boss Tony and also Patrick from Seaworld Fisheries. Dimsum mium mium. We did a bit of shopping then went to visit Marian and Maggie in Port Moody. We had a nice BBQ dinner, watch some movies until 2am. ImpressiveDVD and CD collection he has, name it he has it. French, Spanish, German, Polish he has it really. The next day we came back to Nanaimo, went to watch dragon boat races, saw all my SFB friends it was a nice visit.
Pascal treated us with lobster dinner that night, are we spoiled or not.
I bought myself new wheels... a bicycle... nice green. I already did 20KM here at the resort just going to work everyday.
Marc setup a big tent from the resort home. He did a nice romantic setup inside and we slept in the tent we I got home. Great feeling in there.
Left on Monday morning to get back to the resort. Marc is leaving for NB this week... wish I could go but life goes on, another time.
I have new pictures but they take forever to download but you can check them on my facebook...

20 days in

Well I've been here 20 days straight working and won't be going home till next week.
Marc was here for almost 5 days and did lots of work around the resort, nice shelves for my office, repairs here and there. He's been having a rough month, he was getting on a deck and a a good fall and he broke a rib?? we think, he was at the DR this morning and he most likely that's what he has. He sent him for x-ray. POOR Marc, he will remember May-June 2009.

I went horseback riding last Wednesday, wow I got to see the trails around here, rivers, mountains it's spectacular. We were gone 4 hours, me Camille the wrangler here and 2 guests. Don't have to tell you that my butt was sore and I was walking like a cowgirl after. I felt like

It's still cold up here, really windy but sunny. I haven't been able to go outside my office just in t-shirt (mais moi je suis beaucoup frileuse je ne suis pas un example)

Cheryl my neighbor move her trailer by the river, nice spot, I wish I could move mine too. We helped her put one of the tent up so she can use it as a studio. She does lots of painting and whatever she comes up with. Interesting lady.
Yogi bear visit her lots but her dog Nomee makes sure to chase him if he comes to close.

I should go home next Wednesday or Thursday for 3-4 days then Marc will be leaving for NB for a few weeks.

Till next time...

MEESHA

This is a ggod life... lots of friends around. Having an afternoon nap. This is right by my office. They all stay close by because they know I have cookies for them.

Followers

SNIF SNIF...... I only have 3 followers.... join my blog and follow my adventures.

This morning apparently on of the boat is underwater (the skiff). Adele came back last night and is all happy that the work is done and she doesn't come back in a big mess like she was used to.

Did a few bookings when she was away and lots of quote.
Can you believe 52 000$ for a family of four for a week. Crazy how some people have money. They are charged 10% tip authomatically and they leave more when they leave.
CRAZY

SPA

Forgot to mention that 2 nights ago went to the spa for a 2 hour massage in a tent by the river. Best massage ever. Val if you read this no offense yours were best ever too.
We are 4 on staff here that are French, me , Mathieu, Sophie Doucet Massage therapist and Andre Belanger Cook
and Scarlet Hoy French Immersion girl

6th week

I am in my 6th week at the resort, wow never thought I would love it like this. I don't feel the need or urge to go to Nanaimo at all. The only thing that I miss right now is Marc and Bobine...and Pascal because he's at home. Yesterday on my way to work with my bike I met Yogi bear. I stopped in the middle or the road and there he was looking right at me. He started to walk towards me and I decided to turn around as he was way bigger than me and I had my lunch in my bag. I waited for one of the staff with a truck to come by and I followed him. Yogi was still in the middle of the Rd. we had to stop and honk honk for him to leave. Thinking about it it was probably not Yogi as he was way bigger maybe his cousin???
First day by myself in the office, Adele (lady boss) is gone to Nanaimo for 3 days. Did 5 quotes today and 3 booked youpiiiii. One more will probably confirm tomorrow.
Meesha come to visit me in my trailer every morning because she knows grandma has cookies for her. She's so so "mangeable"
Time for a nice hot bath and dodo.... ha oui Marc is in Tofino for 2-3 days and he will then come and spend a few days with me. Will take a day off to go kayaking and horseback riding hopefully.

4 days home

It's been a nice 4 days home. Marc is doing really really good. More active and is on the right path to getting better.
Going back to the Resort tomorrow afternoon and if nothing changes it could be for a long run this time. Marc is planning to go to NB for a while so no reason to come to Nanaimo. Pascal will come to visit me and maybe some friends, any takers??

Bonne nuit

HOME for a few days

Got up this morning at 9am, half day off only started at noon. By the time I got to the office I just lost it. I had to come home. I got on the next boat to Tofino with Bobine. Got into Tofino at 7pm and drove home. Happy to be with Marc, lots of tears.
I can't sleep, too noisy around here and it feels stuffy in the house. Wow just a month into nature with almost zero civilization and I feel rushed coming into town.
Will try to sleep a bit...night.

ONE MONTH DONE

Well Monday will be one month that I came here. Only been home for 3 days on that. Been a busy last 6 days. Group of 40 for 4 days. Was awesome. There were here for Leadership camp and stuff like that. I drove them around, interesting people. This weekend we have a group from Yukon and Tofino. Want to see more check out my facebook. Life here is relaxe. The only thing I do so far is EAT, WORK and relaxe nothing else. I've done laundry 3 times in a month, no cooking, dishes 3-4 times, watch movies, walks, lots of cycling. It will be really weird returning to civilization in the fall, almost freaky to think about it.
It's been sunny for the last week but very very windy. I've ask Marc to bring me kites. Maybe it's something I can do with the guests. Bobine runs around with the other dogs. She has favorite ones. Marc is doing better but I am worried about him. Can't wait to see him. He will try to come up here with Pascal next week.

Wants to see lots of pictures check out my facebook.

Pretty exciting, I felt all day like I was on a Extreme Makeover TV show, getting all the stuff ready for the arrival of guests. They all got here by float plane 5 of them. Impressive. I am pooped... On a de la super bonne bouffe, je n'ai jamais mangé comme ça de ma vie, 3 gros repas par jours. Mais dehors tout le temps à galoper on en a besoin.
J'ai fais ma pemière quote for a stay today hope qu'ils book.

18 hours to go

Well if we're not ready we wont be because the count down has begun...18 hours to go. Camp looks awesome, can't wait to see the planes land on the water tomorrow afternoon with 40 guests. It will be my first experience with guests. Been here 24 days now and I must say it's beyond my expectation. Pascal got home last night, Marc is happy to have Pascal with him as he's going through some pretty rough time. Wish I could be there also.
Took nice pictures of the horses and Bobine tonight. I am ready for a hot bath and dodo.... Bonne nuit.

3 days till opening

Well I've been home and now back at it. It’s awesome to be in the big trailer, feel more like my home.
Bobine also is happier (I think) hahah.

Yesterday I went to kitchen staff to get myself a plate of fabulous food and on my way out 3 step down there was Yogi Bear looking right at me. Decision... keep going to my trailer or turn back right into the kitchen. I decided to go for the trailer thinking if he comes at me I'll give him my plate and he just stayed there looking at me like thinking where is MY plate. Wow lots of stuff happening around here. We're almost full staff so almost to many people in the staff kitchen for me but at the same time lots of new faces, new discussion, lots of new stories. I do sometime bring my plate to my trailer and eat with Bobine who is begging me for a bite.
I still ride my bike to work and love it. Sunny day today but still a cool wind.

Just got news that Pascal will be leaving Grande Prairie on Saturday to return to Nanaimo. Planning to go back to BCIT for 3rd year apprentice for Machinist.

Did save some money today for the Resort on printing cost. I have great contacts in Nanaimo.

Meesha is doing great, she’s a sucker… trop cute surtout quand elle wiggle la queue, tout bouge d’un coup.

Tomorrow I am setting up the gift shop. Lots of stuff in there wow.
GOOD NIGHT

Some pictures

15 jours

Thursday night was moving time. I moved in the owners trailer, way better. Now it's more like a home for me, was able to unpack everything. I can now get friends to come and visit. Friday I am getting ready to go home. By 5pm we were supposed to leave by boat but had to wait for workers to finish their work. Once ready to leave the boat was way too heavy with all their tools. The first 10 minutes was almost scary but it all went well. Got into Tofino a bit later than expected and the first thing I did was stop for a MATCHA LATTE I am addicted to those. Andre the staff cook was with me for the drive to Nanaimo and snored the whole way driving back.
It was really weird getting into the house. I was a bit worried that once here I would feel like staying here (home sweet home) but no I just want to go back. The only thing that would keep me here is to stay with Marc and Bobine but she's with me most of the time up there and Marc comes to visit.
Saturday was shopping day for a me and some stuff for the Resort.
We had a good dinner at Michel and Nicole's place ( et non Michel elle a pas toute avalee). Now Sunday.... relaxing home. Will try to call Pascal today.

Mardi je pense

Bon mon dieu je ne sais meme plus quelle journee nous sommes, je suis oubligee de regarder le calendrier.
Well I still like it, marc is here with me since Sunday afternoon. He's done tremendous improvement in the staff kitchen, built new shelves, cleaned storage room and help cook Andre with dishes and all. I think he's leaving tomorrow.
Got a phone call from Pascal he's thinking of coming back to Nanaimo for a while and go back to BCIT, will see this weekend what he decides. Would be nice to have him home for a while.
Yesterday one of the dogs got hurt by a bear, don't forget they are working dogs chasing bears and that one did get a little too brave and he got it by the bear paw. He did turn around and went right back at him. He has a chunck of skin gone on his side. Was not too good last night but this morning he's back running around and ready to go back at work.
Mat is off work for 2 days so I take care of Meesha. (I am her grandma after all..hahaha)
Nice sunny day today, suppose to rain for a few days after sun for two weeks.
I should be moving in the other trailer in the next day or 2. Will be able to unpack all my stuff.

Tons and tons of CROTTE DE SOURIS partout. (mouse dropping). Should finish cleaning the office tomorrow and reorganize and Monday Internet/Cable guy is coming to move equipment to the office.

WINDY NIGHT

WOW what a night of wind and rain. Bobine was shaking like a leaf and scratching the side of my bed to get on it with me. I wrapped her in her blanket and put her besides me and was then OK.
This morning it was raining so hard I didn't want to get out of bed it was like nonsense for me to have people go to work outside in that kind of weather but they all went and I was in the office by 8:30. Good day of work, Bobine was by my side on the couch for the afternoon. You must be thinking what is she doing on the couch if she's working???? well I sit next to Adele's desk on the couch with my laptop on my knee and re organize the files on the computer, create folders and that kind of stuff and Adele makes reservations and shows me how to do it at the same time. They say that we should be in the main office by next Monday....we hope.
At dinner time tonight as I was getting out of the staff kitchen there was yogi bear at the end of the steps looking for muffins oh wait maybe a steak...
Good night...xoxox

Life at the resort

Well I've been here 4 days now and life here is unbelievable. 20 feet from my trailer are the horses barn, yes I do smell it but hey...I smell as worst in the morning when I go to the bathroom after Marc so there is no change there for me...
Then another 20 feet in front of the trailer is a big field where normally the horses spend their time, everyday I see black bears, the dogs from the resort will run to them and circle them and bark, bark and bark like they're telling them hey you're close enough go away. They don't even move, they just continue eating and off they go. The second day I was there one came right under the staff kitchen, apparently it's really common. Before entering a building if the door is open we always check that it's a human being in there because it might be a papa bear.

It's has been raining most of the four days I've been here except the day I arrived (27 degrees)

Bobine is awesome, going around with no leash for the first time in her life, making friends with the other dogs, I think she will have favorite ones. She's follows me everywhere and make sure she can see me.

Yes I do miss Marc and home but this is an adventure for both of us not to forget that he has been working out of town for the last 20 years so we know what it's like to be apart for weeks at the time and it looks that I might be home every 10-14 days after all. I'll just wait and see what it will be like when we have guests and maybe I'll be here for longer period..????

Food is great I don't have to kook starting today. We have 3 meals a day cooked for us and food in the fridge as we want. I think I won't want to cook anymore when I get home. Can get use to this really quick.

We're supposed to get up to 80km winds tonight hope the trailer is attached to something hahahah. Bobine will be shaking like crazy.

Well bath time and probably in bed by 8:30-9pm

Love you all
xoxoxoxo

Made it to the resort

.

Marc and I finally left Nanaimo last Wednesday and spent 2 days at Louise and Sulo's place. Check it out www.goldcoasttofino.com, what a wonderful spot.

On Friday morning after a bit of shopping we left with the Arrantide, geoduck's fishing boat and made it to the resort in about 2 hours. We unpacked my stuff in the trailer and went up to the staff kitchen and met André the staff cook, yes André is French. Marc and I helped him clean up the kitchen for another season so that was my first day of work.

Next day Marc left the resort around 10am, wow it felt weird leaving me here alone..oups no with Bobine. I felt like I was staying in a retreat of some sort not allowed to go out. I spent the day again cleaning the kitchen with André, poor guy thank god I was there to help otherwise he would have worked 24/24 to get everything ready to cook for the staff for Monday.
It rain so hard during the night I didn't know it could rain that hard...yes more than home.
Don't need any alarms clock here, as soon as I here the door from the trailer next to me open I know the boss is up so time for me to get up.

Sunday was some running around with Adele (the boss) and she showed me where everything was, the buildings and all. Finished the day cleaning up the men's staff washrooms....wow I didn't know men standards of
what clean is.... was not like us women... well I kinda knew.. hahah.

Sunday night I am lost, dont know what's the date or day anymore. Weird feeling. No TV, no radio, no cell just my laptop. Everything could shut down in Nanaimo and I wouldn't even know unless someone emails me... yes I want emails.

Monday, I spent all day in the office with Adele. I sat on the couch with my laptop, 2 dogs on the couch next two me and one on my feet. Outside 3-4 poneys are looking at me in th window and wondering when I'll go see them. This is awsome, no stress here, for now anyway as there are no guest till the 24th.

LAST WEEK END HOME

Some of you already know that I am leaving Nanaimo for a few months to go work at Clayoquot Sound Wilderness Resort. Yep about 1 hrs by boat from Tofino and yep I will be stuck up there just getting out whenever I can. This has been a dream of mine for some years now and 2009 is my lucky year I am leaving.
Busy weekend, haircut, shopping, pay bills, reorganise some banking stuff, groceries and shopping again.
You must be wondering what is Marc thinking about all of this???? welllll he's very very let say very jealous. He wishes he could come too. Since he's been working out of town for weeks at the time for the last 20 years or so now it's my turn to go for new adventures. He will be visiting as much as possible ( he will be diving on the West Coast this summer) so it will be easy for him to stop and spend a few days here and there with me and off course Bobine, yes she's coming with me. I am so excited, just thinking about it and I have tears of joy. In case you don't know our son Mathieu as been working there for 3 years now, starting his 4th season. He's been gone from home since 1998 so it will be nice to spend time with him. So tonight is relax night, nice hot bath, movie and whatever happens hahahha. I had to put a little bit of Mimi in there.
Keep reading me in my new adventures.
Love you all.........Je vous aimes tous..........xoxoxoxoxo
